James B. Reed, DVMDr. James Reed became interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine when he was 12 years old. After completing his undergraduate and master's degree studies at the University of Maryland, he went on to earn his Veterinary degree at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his degree in 1987 and then returned to Annapolis to practice in the community where he spent many of his childhood years. His interest in the legacy of the Annapolis Animal Hospital occurred after looking for an opportunity to practice in a small and more personal hospital. Dr. Reed is active in the Annapolis community. He is a past president of the Anne Arundel Veterinary Medical Association, a past member of the Animal Control Board, and past delegate and vice president of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association. He currently resides in Annapolis with his wife and two children. He enjoys sailing and power boating as well as water and snow skiing. |

Kim Chaney, DVMDr. Kim Chaney (Thomas) is a native of Nashville, Tennessee and grew up with a love for animals and University of Tennessee football- she has a complete wardrobe of orange and white clothing! Dr. Chaney matriculated from the University of Tennessee earning both her Bachelors degree in Biology in 1993 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1998. Upon completion of veterinary school, Dr. Chaney moved north to Annapolis, Maryland. She worked full-time as a practicing veterinarian in southern Maryland and became co-founder in 1999 of VetCentric- a veterinary based, mail-order pharmacy. After years of working with VetCentric and practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Chaney joined Annapolis Animal Hospital in 2005 where she currently works part-time. She has a strong interest in surgery, dermatology and medicine, but enjoys all aspects of being a general practitioner. Dr. Chaney and her husband live in Annapolis with their two young children, Brendan and Brooke. They have a rescue cat named Charlie and a Jack Russell Terrier named Lilly. Dr. Chaney loves competitive sailing, biking, and horses, but since the birth of her two children, she now spends the majority of her free time with family and friends. |

Lee Lianides, DVMDr. Lianides graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. She has provided Veterinary Relief Services in Maryland as the president of Maritime Veterinary Associates, Inc. since 2001. "Dr. Lee" has a lifelong involvement with animals. She studied Dressage in Germany and worked with the coach of the Swedish Olympic Team while competing at International Levels. She has bred and shown Boxers and owned a horse boarding and training facility in Massachusetts. She is an avid sailor participating in ocean races including the recent Newport to Bermuda Race. She is a regular crew member racing in regattas on the Chesapeake Bay. She shares a home in Annapolis with her husband and 3 rescued German Shorthaired Pointers, and is active in fostering for the German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue in Maryland. Her clinical interests are to provide the Gold Standard of medical care in concert with the wishes of the owners of dogs and cats. The most important animal in the world is the one she is working with at the moment, and she believes on offering only what passes "the my dog test." She attends national continuing education meetings annually and is a member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the Anne Arundel County Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Information Network |

Anne VanAuken, DVMDr. Anne Van Auken has been working at the Annapolis Animal Hospital in a part time capacity since 2003. She has worked at the Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic full time since completing her internship there in 2002. Dr. Van Auken graduated in 1997 from Washington and Lee University and in 2002 from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. When she isn't working she's usually enjoying the outdoors or traveling. |

We have a compassionate, experienced and knowledgeable staff of technicians and receptionists. Most of our support staff have been with us for over 6 years and have developed bonds with our patients and their owners. Our clients feel "at home" when they visit our hospital and they know that we treat their pets as if they were our own. We are proud of our reputation for providing personalized "one on one" care for every one of our patients. |
